Wrapping up this year's running

George Munroe   Tue 25 Sep 2012   updated: Fri 03 Oct 2014

We rounded up this year's classof76 running for charity in Newcastle at the Great North Run, with personal best times all round for Michael, Adrian and myself (and my Christine too, who helped raise a few more quid for the cause).

A cloudy and at times wet morning was just about perfect for running the Gateshead to South Shields course. We were "high-fived" by Mo Farah and Greg Rutherford at the start, spurred on by a double salute from the Red Arrows and by the encouragement of around 50,000 other runners, all with a driving, and often personal, purpose for finishing the race.

I can report that Michael is definitely getting back to school day form, Adrian has been totally converted, and I'm just about holding on!

So all in all we managed to raise £1700 for Cancer Research (http://www.justgiving.com/classof76) from over 50 donations, following our marathon relay in May (with Jenny and Michael's son Devin), Lisburn runs in June and Great North Run just over a week ago. Enough events now until next year!

Hoping some more of you will join us in 2013: "you don't stop when you get old, you get old when you stop" :-).
