Christmas get together over morning coffee
George Munroe Tue 30 Dec 2014
We had an enjoyable get together last Saturday, 27 December, in the restaurant of Dobbies in Lisburn.
Sorry that some who had planned to come along couldn't make it.
It was also too icy in Wallace Park for the weekly Park Run to take place so all of us (except one :-) stuck to various Christmassy hot drinks and gave the enticing fry a miss!
Amongst other things we talked about a few activities for the coming year that everyone is invited to participate in. These will include:
- Walk from Newry to Portadown along Newry canal in early Spring
- Mini golf tournament and dinner for non-golfers and golfers at Lisburn Golf Club
- Rathlin run on Saturday 29 August—in addition to usual Belfast marathon relay (May), Lisburn half marathon (June), and Great North Run (September)
- Triathalon, if we can find one that allows a relay team, so that different individuals can do the running, cycling and swimming
We also recalled that we will have left FSL 40 years in 2016 and are thinking about another "reunion" dinner. In anticipation of this we'll be studying a few old school photographs and trying to identify anyone who isn't already on our email list. We'll probably do this some Saturday morning over a coffee at Dobbies and the more of us there the better!
And to improve and widen participation in sharing news, some of the team will be setting up and managing a Facebook page which will probably be used for announcements relating to the Class of 76 from now on.

Happy New Year everyone!
