February 2016

George Munroe   Mon 29 Feb 2016

Seems only fair to announce that Michael and I have decided that we won't be taking on that mantle of running to raise funds for a selected charity again this year.

We've been doing that for the past seven years, involving Jenny, Barbara, Adrian and many more of the class of 76 as supporters. It's been great and we've raised somewhere around £14K. However, with Adrian announcing his retirement from running at the end of 2015 and my own increasing demands on time from a new role at work, we're going to step down from formal fund raising.

That doesn't mean we'll be stopping running of course. Michael has more full marathons planned and I'll certainly be doing at least the usual quota of half marathons through the year, always remembering the adage "you don't stop when you get old, you get old when you stop" :-).

2016 is the 40th anniversary of class of 76 leaving Friends School to all go our separate ways. Hopefully, somehow, we will get a reunion organised at some stage during the year, but that may mean some of the class stepping up to help with the organisation.

But even if that doesn't happen, many of us will continue to meet informally at coffee in Dobbies, occasional dinner get togethers, at Wallace Park during Saturday morning's park run, on the golf course, and elsewhere.

It's good to keep in touch and when I can I'll add updates to this site, and you can too!
